Fall Colors

I don't what it is about this fall, but it seems like the colors of the leaves have been a lot more vibrant. I really don't remember the color of the leaves being so pretty before, especially the areas just around our neighborhood and town.

While we don't have a huge quantity of leaves that fall down and cover the roads and yards, we do have pine needles. During the rain and wind that we have had lately, the dead pine needles have been blown off the trees. The road into our division has been covered with them to the extent that the road looks orange, so even though we don't have to rake leaves, we still have a mess on the roads. Luckily, a road sweeper comes in and cleans the roads every once in awhile, unfortunately it doesn't clean our driveway or patio areas!

Biopsy Results

Just to let you know, everything looked fine on the second biopsy. The Dr. actually used a different procedure this time, so I have a bruise on my neck now, but it is fading and since everything turned out fine, I guess that's not to much to have to put up with. Thanks for the prayers!

Biopsy - Part 2

For those of you that are not on facebook, where I've already given all the gory details, here is your version of my day with the "Biopsy Doctor From...." heck , where is he from? Let's just say that although he is a nice guy, the procedure he performs is not nice! It actually went better this time, however, I'm not sure the relaxation pill I took really helped until I got home, put up my feet and snoozed the afternoon away with the cats on my lap. I was very relaxed then. He told me that he was giving me twice the normal amount of medicine to numb my throat, but again I was still able to feel some pain. Not as much as the first time, so that was a good thing. He was surprised that I was feeling any pain. It felt like a prickly sticker had been dropped on my throat and pushed into it. All in all, the pain was less and it was a much shorter amount of time, so it was a lot better. Now the wait for the results. I'll post those when I get them.

Comments From Saben

Yesterday, when I was with Saben, he started talking about the number of hairs on his head. He said that he didn't know how many hairs were on his head. I replied saying, that I didn't know either but there is someone that does know, do you know who that is? He didn't know, so I asked if he thought Mommy knew. He said, no. Then I said, does Daddy know? He said, no, then he said, maybe Papa knows! Kari and I laughed because Saben seems to think that even if no one else knows the answer, Ken will. I did go on and tell him that this was something that even Papa doesn't know, that only God knows the number of hairs on our heads. What an awesome God and what a funny boy!

Miscellaneous Musings

I have decided that I have like/dislike feelings about fall. On the plus side, some of my favorite flowers, those in the picture above, don't bloom until fall, (I love the yellow with the dark centers).
The spider webs are gorgeous, though I can't say the same for the spiders that seem to be everywhere, all of a sudden. The detail on the web is totally amazing, it boggles my mind to think of a little spider creating such a thing, and God creating it to do it.
Off the subject for a minute, Ken did get the arbor finished, so that part of the remodel is done.
A negative part of fall is that the garden is done producing the wonderful tomatoes that we've enjoyed this summer. The plants in the box to the right are the tomato plants before we took them out. We took most of the plants out, but thought we would try to get a few more heirlooms to ripen. Unfortunately, when we woke up the following morning, there was frost on the ground and a black plant, so no more heirlooms this year.
Another thing I like about fall is the colors the leaves turn, but that comes as a result of the weather getting colder, which I am less fond of. Also, although we need some rain and it's nice to have the lawns turning green again, lots of rainy days in a row gets old pretty fast.

Fall does lead to various fun holidays and family time, so that's another reason to like the season. As a result, I can't decide if I like fall or not, there are things to like and things to dislike, but I guess that the case with most things, and God created the different seasons for a reason, so I guess I need to remember to be content in whatever season I'm in.

Seth Saturday

Last Saturday we got to babysit Seth while Todd and Betsy went out to celebrate their anniversary. It was fun to get to spend some time with him and to see how much he has grown and the new things he can do now.

We took him for a walk shortly after we got there and it wasn't long before he conked out and took a little nap.

After he woke up, and had a "snack", in the form of his bottle, he entertained us with his walking abilities, (remember he is only 9 months old), his smiling to show off his 2, almost 3 teeth,...

...and his chain pulling talents, all of which he excelled at. Seth seems to be a much more active baby than I remember Saben and Annika being. He was constantly on the go and wanted to see what Papa was doing with his toolbox and Daddy's computer. Luckily, Papa got most of the computer work done while Seth took his nap, or there might have been trouble. We enjoyed getting to be with Seth and I think, Todd and Betsy enjoyed their brief break from parenthood!
