Halloween Fun

Downtown Bellingham had their annual trick or treating today instead of the 31st. Ken and I are babysitting Seth today, so we all went to Bellingham and joined the Youngs and some of their friends in going from store to store, trick or treating.

I know Saben is a character from Star Wars, and I know he's not a storm trooper, but unfortunately, I don't remember what he is.

Back at Grandma and Papa's house, loving those black olives! (By the way, this was Seth's first time to stay at our house overnight and he did great! He didn't cry at all, stayed in the pak and play to sleep, and it only took about 15 minutes! Hopefully it will last all night!)

Houston, We Have a Problem!

We discovered this pile of deer scat in our backyard, last weekend.
The pile in the first picture is in the grass at the bottom of this picture. This is to show how close to the house they were. We have never seen them this close to our house, although we do see deer occassionally, when we drive to the freeway from our house.

This morning when I looked out, the strawberry plants looked like they had gotten a haircut.

The plants have some new leaves that weren't eaten, they just ate the leaves that were sticking up higher. We are assuming it was the deer again, although we didn't find any piles near the strawberries. I really hope this isn't going to be the start of an ongoing problem!

Pumpkin Farm Fun

Last Saturday, we met up with our kids, and grandkids in Bellingham and went to a pumpkin farm together. Seth and Saben tried to pick up these big pumpkins, but were unable to get them off the ground.

Fall and Wenatchee

Since Ken was on a business trip and I hadn't been to Wenatchee in a couple of months, I decided to go over for the weekend. Friday evening some of my family met at "Larry's" for chicken and chips, then we went back to my mom's house. I taught the ones that were there to play a new game called "Farkle". While we were playing the game, we had a surprise visit from Shaun, Andrea and Jayden.

This is Jayden and her Daddy. It was good to see them and get a chance to visit with them awhile. Then, Saturday morning, Mom, Meera, and I went to see Dad. I hadn't seen the new place, where he is living now, so I was anxious to see it. Since Amy works there, she gave us a tour of the facilities. It's a very nice place and I really liked it! Dad seems to be doing pretty good there, but when I first saw him, I thought he didn't look real good. I couldn't really put my finger on how he looked different and since everyone else sees him more often, they didn't really notice anything. The thing that is nicest, in my opinion, about the new place is that they have things for the memory care people to do, instead of just sitting them in front of a TV set all day. There are children's puzzles, blocks, and things like that for them to do, plus someone that works with them every day to encourage them to do some of the activities.
After lunch, we went to a quilt show, and no, these are not quilts! These decorated bras were displayed at the quilt show and will be a part of the "Bridge to a Cure" breast cancer fundraiser being held in Wenatchee this month. (The one in the middle is a mammogram bra!)

Sunday I headed home and took some fall pictures on the way over the mountains. This one was taken by the dam in Tumwater Canyon.

It was raining towards the top of the pass, so the colors aren't as vibrant, but I still thought they were pretty!

Monday - October 4

This blog is mainly for Ken, who asked me to take some pictures Monday while I was at Kari's house, so he could see some pictures while he's gone. This first picture is Annika holding the picture she drew of herself. She has a hair on the top of her head, one on her chin and 2 on the side of her head.
Saben had kindergarten that day, so most of the day, it was just Annika and I playing. We played a memory matching game, and with Saben not there, she won the game.

What Would You Do?

I've had the same thing happen to me twice recently and wondered what others do or think they should do, in the same situation. Here's the scenario: I always put the big container of cat litter on the bottom of my grocery cart because it's heavy and I don't want to try lifting it in and out of the cart. Twice now, I got out to the car and realized that I hadn't paid for it. The first time, I did self-checking, so since it was my fault, I took it back into the store and paid for it. This week it happened again, but this time the employee that checked me out, didn't notice it on the bottom. It wasn't my fault that she didn't charge me for it, so should I have gone back in the store, which was very inconvenient, or just leave and think, lucky me! Let me know what you do or think should be done, then I'll tell you what I actually did, or you can guess what I did!
