Crazy Size!

Our old DVD player quit working recently, so Ken ordered another one.  We were very surprised to see how small it is.  Here, I compared it to the size of a DVD case...
...and here I compared it in size to our former DVD player.  We're blown away by the difference in size!  Who knew DVD players were so small and light now!  (It's almost small enough to take with us on a trip!)

Saturday Fun

After a shopping trip and lunch in Mt. Vernon, we decided to take the long way home and discovered that some daffodils were starting to bloom in some of the fields.
Some of the fields had a lot of water in them because of all the rain we've had lately.
We drove all over the area looking for snow geese, then as we headed back to the freeway to head home, we discovered a field with hundreds of them.  This picture shows how far away they were to start with...
...but then they started moving closer and closer.
They even started crossing over a ditch that surrounded the field.  It looked like a migration was taking place!
Some on each side of the ditch.
A close-up of one of them.
We stayed for about an hour watching them wander around.
I discovered that I could take some interesting shots with the water reflecting the geese.
We were hoping that they would all take off and fly while we were there.  A few of them flew a little bit, then landed again before we left.
I needed a new Facebook profile picture of I had Ken take this one of me.
We finally headed on our way and as we drove back to the freeway, we ran across some Trumpeter swans in a field by the road.
So we got to see in one day, the 2 major types of large birds that winter over in our area.  It was an enjoyable, relaxing way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Making Cookies

The first weekend in February, Seth stayed with us overnight, so we made cookies.
I had several spring type cookie cutters that I rarely use, so I got them out, I had a rabbit, a chick, a flower and a heart.  Since Valentines Day was coming up, Seth mainly wanted to do hearts, but we did a few of the other ones also.
Seth also tried to make a Pikachu cookie. (That's a character from Pokemon for those that don't know.)
The finished cookies.  (The Pikachu cookie is at the top left on the first tray.)

Cousins

When we went to my uncle's funeral a couple of weeks ago I got to see some cousins that I haven't seen in awhile.  I didn't even recognize the one with the beard on the left, because it had been so long since I'd seen him.  Even though it was a sad occasion, it was good to get together and celebrate my uncle's life and see relatives we don't get to see very often.
My cousin, Terry wanted his picture taken with all the female cousins!  You can see an impish look in my cousin, Carol's eyes as she looked at Terry...
...and pretty soon she acted on it!
Carol and Terry laughed about it when he got her trying to give him rabbit ears.
