Trip to the Zoo

 I can't believe it's been over a week since we went to the zoo with Todd, Betsy, & Seth, and I'm just getting around to doing a blog about it!  For some reason, I didn't take a lot of pictures during the trip, but here's a few to remember the occasion.  The first thing we did, or rather watched Seth do, was making paper out of elephant poo.  Seth is putting the paper, elephant poo, & water mixture onto a screen.

 The second step was to squeeze as much of the water as possible, out of the mixture by pressing 2 screens together with your hands, the paper mixture is in between the 2 screens.

 The third step was to get even more water out of the mixture by using a rolling pin.  A small piece of "paper" was then put in a baggie and taken home.

First Day Of MOPS - 2012

Tuesday, was the first day of MOPS for the year.  Since I'm the head mentor mom this year, I'm on the MOPS leadership team or as it's called in MOPS, the Steering team.  All the members of the Steering team got these t-shirts to wear the first day, the back of it says STEERING.  Plunge refers to the theme this year.

One of the things Steering does the first day each year is some skits illustrating some of the policies/rules of MOPS.  One of them is a reminder not to talk while the speaker is talking.  In the skit I was in, I was pretending to be the speaker for the day.  I decided I wanted to do something different and came up with the idea to wear a robe and pretend to be the priest in "The Princess Bride".  This is the outfit I wore and this is the speech that I quoted:

Mawage, Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday

Mawage, that bwessed awangement, that dweam wifin a dweam...

And wuv, tru wuv, will fowow you foweva

So tweasure your wuv.

It was a lot of fun, but only a few people knew I was doing it and all the Steering members that were supposed to be talking during my speech, forgot what they were supposed to be doing until I was halfway through my speech!

Annika Gets Her Hair Cut

Annika got her hair cut this week before she started kindergarten.  She looks so cute and grown-up!
