Kyle and Kari are off on another adventure, so Ken and I are babysitting Saben and Annika this week. Since Saben is in kindergarten now, we have stayed at their house part of the time and at our house part of the time. Saben had school Monday and Tuesday, so we stayed at thier house 2 nights, then came back to Arlington to teach our Breakout class Tuesday evening. Wednesday morning I had a dentist appt., then we went to the Children's Museum in the afternoon, followed by a trip back to Bellingham after dinner on Wed., so we've been burning up the road between Arlington and Bellingham! Driving in the car that much led me to get some kids cassettes out that Kari and Todd used to listen to, so we've been listening to "The Music Machine", "Antsylvania" and "Animals and Other Things" numerous times as we've traveled.

We have one more month on this year's membership card, so we thought we'd get another visit in to the Children's Museum. This gives an overview of the various water things available to play with.
Saben as usual, enjoyed trying to build something with the water pipes.
Annika discovered a new fun thing to do with the water. She would gather a bunch of boats, place them on the top of this wheel, then squirt water at the wheel to get it spinning so fast the boats would fly off. She did manage to get quite wet, but now I know to bring an extra set of clothes to change into after we are done in the water room. The nice thing about going on a Wednesday afternoon was that it wasn't as crowded as it is sometimes.
Saben's second favorite thing to do is to go downstairs where they have a room with things you can build with. They change the building materials from time to time, so you never know what is going to be there to build with. This time it was just these white rectangles. An igloo had already been built and demolished when I arrived, so they started building a tower.
Several kids usually get involved in whatever project is being worked on. Then comes the most fun part, demolishing it.
Many different types of walls, and even a bridge was built. Then, whoever is in the room, lines up against the wall, someone counts down, and they all run towards the wall and plow into it.

Last Thursday, Saben's school had a science fair. Everyone in the school had the opportunity to take part, even the kids in kindergarten. There weren't many projects done by the kindergarteners, but Saben was one of the ones that did a project. Each child was supposed to come up with a science question to answer, Saben's question was, "What Conducts Electricity?" We had gotten Saben an electricity experiment kit for Christmas, so while we were taking care of them in January, Ken and Saben spent some time using his kit to see what household items conduct electricity. They spent quite a bit of time finding things that did and didn't conduct electricity. It was fun to get to go to the science fair and see his completed project, which he had done a very good job on.
Then, Friday night, I had a "girl's night out" to go and see the "Anne of Green Gables" play in Everett. You might notice that it was done as a musical, it was the same story, but with the addition of some songs and dances. There were 7 of us women who went to dinner, then to the play. The play was very well done, it had great costumes, sets, and actors, which we all really enjoyed. It was fun to see some of the women that I hadn't seen in quite awhile and get caught up on our lives a little. We also were glad we made it a "girl's night", so we wouldn't have to try and keep our husbands awake during the play! It's definitely a better play for women than men!
