What Would You Do?

I've had the same thing happen to me twice recently and wondered what others do or think they should do, in the same situation. Here's the scenario: I always put the big container of cat litter on the bottom of my grocery cart because it's heavy and I don't want to try lifting it in and out of the cart. Twice now, I got out to the car and realized that I hadn't paid for it. The first time, I did self-checking, so since it was my fault, I took it back into the store and paid for it. This week it happened again, but this time the employee that checked me out, didn't notice it on the bottom. It wasn't my fault that she didn't charge me for it, so should I have gone back in the store, which was very inconvenient, or just leave and think, lucky me! Let me know what you do or think should be done, then I'll tell you what I actually did, or you can guess what I did!

Answers and Comments

Everyone who answered the question about what they would give up; TV, cell phone or the internet said TV. That agrees with the survey for the USA, 49% of people surveyed said that, although, responders over the age of 45, usually said their cell phones. That was actually what I said when I first read the question. I use my cell phone a lot less than the other 2 things. The other countries that said they would give up their TV's were China, Italy, Spain, France and India. Ken always says that TV shows in Europe are awful, so maybe that's part of the reason. Brazil was the only country that was willing to give up the internet and 3 countries, Canada, Germany and U.K. said cell phones. Apparently Canadians pay some of the highest rates for their cell phone plans, so that probably explains why they said cell phones. Thanks to those that responded, I appreciated getting your input.

Countries

Denaye's reply to my blog yesterday mentioned that there are to many countries to try and figure out who said what. So, I'm going to list some of the countries polled and see if you can guess which of the 3 items listed in yesterday's blog the people in the country would be willing to give up. They are: USA, Canada, U.K., France, Spain, Germany, Italy, China, India, and Brazil.

Question of the Week - June 19

Each month Reader's Digest has a question that they have asked people in different countries. They show the results of the question for the different countries and are somewhat interesting. I thought the question this month was a fun one, so I'm going to ask it here and see if the answers I get match the magazines results. The question is: If you had to give up one of the following, which would you give up; TV, cell phone or the Internet? Also, any guesses as to which countries had the majority, give one of those answers? Hint: there was at least 1 country for each answer.

My Answer and Question #2

It's interesting how no one but me wants to stay the same age if we could. The ones who responded to the question didn't want to go back and be a younger age again, which I heartily agree with. Those days are past and I have no desire to go back. But I am enjoying the age I am now and really have no desire, rather a dread of getting older. So, I would like to stay the age I am now or a couple of years younger, nothing major, just the way things are now, with my minor aches and pains, memory loss, etc. I know there is a reason for each season of life, I know God knows best, and obviously, I can't stop the clock, but it would be my choice if it was possible to stay the same age I am now.

My next question is for those of you with young children. Have you enjoyed your children being one age in particular more than another? I heard Kari tell someone that she enjoyed her kids at a certain age more than others and that made me wonder if others had a favorite age. I think I like my kids at the age they are now, since they have given me grandchildren. There were many ages throughout their lives that were fun also, but that's the best answer I have now that I've forgotten how old they were when we did certain things.

Question #1

Last Sunday afternoon our life group got together for a "Super Bowl" party. Everyone watched the game until halftime, which is the traditional time to stop eating just snacks and get down to the serious business of eating the rest of the food. After eating, I was able to persuade some of the other women to play a game with me instead of watching the rest of the Super Bowl. I had taken "The Poll Game" with us, so we played that during the second half. I'm not going to explain the whole game, but the main idea is to ask a "yes" or "no" question, decide how you will answer it and then predict how many will answer the question with a "yes". Some of the questions are quite thought provoking, while others are fun, not serious questions. One thought provoking question that was asked was, "If you could stay one age forever, would you do it?" I'm not going to tell you how I or the other women in the group answered it, until I see what some you think about the question. I'm thinking I might throw out some other questions like that from time to time, it depends on how good a reponse I get to this first question. I thought it would be fun to hear responses to some of these questions, to see what you are thinking and why you think that. Don't over think it, just give your first gut reaction to the question. Remember, it's just a "yes" or "no" question, although your reason why will be interesting.

House Color

Amy asked if we had chosen a color for the house. This is the final choice, which was #4 in the previous set of pictures. The pictures didn't really show the colors that well and #4 is more of the gold color I wanted. Now we just have to wait for the weather to get better. The guy who is going to paint our house said that he is way behind on his jobs because of the bad weather. He had originally thought he would be working on our house this week, so now we have no idea when he will get to us. Hopefully the weather will get better again soon, so he can get to us before the weather gets bad again.

Closer to a Decision

Well, Andrea is the winner. We are trying to decide now between #4 and #5. We decided to paint a larger section of both of them. #4 is on top and #5 is on the bottom, and this is our first try at a white for trim. #4 is the color of the place in Marysville that I was trying to match. #1 and 3, don't show how bright they were in the picture, but they were actually pretty awful when you saw them in person (just ask Kari). If we used those colors, we figured we would be one of those houses where people go by and say "what were they thinking!" So now, which is your favorite of these 2 and what do you think of the white. Is it to white, should it be more off-white?

House Colors

Who knew that choosing a color to paint the house would be so difficult! We had narrowed it down to wanting a gold color, but as you can see, even knowing approximately what we wanted, still led to many tries at trying to find just the right gold color. I knew of a place in Marysville that had the color I wanted, so after already, unsucessfully,trying to find that color on a paint chip, I went to the place and took a picture of it. Then I hopped out of the car, with my paint chips to hold them next to the building and see if I could figure out which was the closest to matching. While I was over next to the building, I spotted a piece of the siding, painted with that color sitting on the ground. I quickly grabbed it and made my get away. So now, can you figure out which color we chose? There are 2 number 3's because I painted a big section with one color, then went back and tried a different color over it, but only did a few boards this time. Good luck in guessing! (Now we just have to choose a white for the trim!)
